Sorry to bring this up again, but my last question on the subject was
ultamitly unanswered (in fact, if anybody recognizes this question and can
re-circulate the orginal that would be nice as I dont keep these mails).
They are in the gnome-list archives:
mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2004-January/msg00147.html mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2004-January/msg00147.html
mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2004-January/thread.html#00147 mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2004-January/thread.html#00147
(that goes to the thread, such as it is, in particular)
I guess its more a question of the GPL, but Im writing a small bit of
software for a local company and I used the stock icons (see URL above) in
the prog. I dont mind giving them the source (they paid for
implementation, after all), but I dont know if Im right to use it in
this program. Its for internal use only and I dont know if I need to
make clear that I didnt charge for the program, I charged for
implementation or what. As I said in the first mail the last thing I want
to do is violate the GPL.
Any thoughts?
I was asking around on IRC about this. One solution is simply
to ask the original creators for their permission to use them
in this way. Apparently all but one are by tigert or jimmac.
I think adding @ximian.com onto each of those names will get
you the email addresses.
(The remaining one is a composite of the others.)
Since the GPL FAQ at www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html
is almost 100kb long, this is probably your best bet if you
are pressed for time.
